Chris Lash:  Reverse Painting on Glass

I believe that art is art and should speak for itself.  Each piece I create comes from within and speaks of who I am.

About the Artist

I have been doing reverse painting on glass for about 15 years.  I am a self-taught artist.  My interest in reverse painting on glass began with a small collectoin my father owned.  One day, while driving home, I saw an old window on the curb and decided to pick it up and try painting.  When painting in reverse, I draw out the scene on the front and paint on the back. I paint the detail work first and background last, so that when viewed from the front, the painting on the back looks like it is what is seen through the window.
In 1997, I rented a studio space in the Village Gate in Rochester, New York.  This allowed me to commune with other artists and to learn.  I have grown tremendously over the years, thanks in large part to my three wonderful children  who have supported me and loved me unconditionally.
